I have had fun today exploring a new online tool – Jing.
I am teaching 2D Animation. I was introduced to a free program called Scratch which I like to use for a few weeks in this course. Scratch could be used with young students. If you ever used Logo, this is the next generation programming. You use sprites, given directions by stacking blocks to create programs.
Something else I tried today is a screen capture program called Jing . It is an amazing program, I was able to record an introduction to Scratch. I then attached a link to the video on our class Moodle. Here is the video made in Jing.

Very effective application of Jing. Scratch looks neat too.
I’m starting to think that I’m never going to catch those of you out there who seem to have this cybernautica down to a Bluenose sail ability. I tried to view your jing but my computer (FireFox) keeps telling me I’m off line everytime I go to another address or option other than the one I am currently on. It is finally nice to meet you. I’m starting my row call every other day from the bottom up and at least that way I should be able to touch base with everyone by course end. Funny thing, everywhere I go, Glen seems to have gotten there and left by the time I stumble on in…
You never know what’s going to inspire you to stretch a little further. Yours is just the second reference to Moodle that I remember. Glen said that he would be using it for this course. Honestly I had no idea what a Moodle was but, for whatever reason, continued on without question. You inspired me to go and see what the heck a Moodle was. It looks really interesting. This link by a parent http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?id=6140/ really explained the excitement in plain language and the comments helped too. Thanks for the inspiration.
This looks awesome!…thank you for the video and the software.
You say that you use this for a few weeks. Is this as an introduction? What else do you do? I teach the 2D course and use strictly Flash MX. Maybe we can share resources? This programs looks interesting!
Great video presentation. I would like to pass this on to our Drama teacher and Graphics teacher if you don’t mind. I think I will also try something out with scratch.
I have’t tried Jing yet, but I will. I must be more of a linear learner than I thought I was..I like to explore one program at a time. Every time we do those PD things that categorize your learning style I am a random abstract…me and the art teacher. Go figure….
Still need yor skype contact information
I too, have to try a Jing. I seem to have shelved it for now.
