On David Warlick’s blog today, he discusses the following video. A large university class illustrates their learning experiences.

The simplicity used to deliver the message reminded me of the Commoncraft videos.

Thanks for sharing this find. It was very thought provoking. I watched it twice and intend to pass it on.

Its very mind-boggling the change that has taken place just in one generation. How is it that we can have such vast changes in ICT and not have vast changes to our education system? We seem to be able to create information so easily, what happens when our ability to produce information outpaces our ability to consume it? Does information become meaningless because we have no ability to absorb and evaluate it? Again, some more thought provoking content.

It is all about vast amounts of information. Sharing, creating, collaborating, searching and using all the hyperlinked information that is available. I also think it is about creating life long learners, our students and the teachers/professors. Learners will always require new, current information to evaluate.
    Thanks for your comments.

I tagged this one. It would be nice to share it with our staff, but we can’t look at videos from UTube…or any videos off the net for that matter!.. Really cramps our style.

I just watched this video on another blog and it certainly does make you re-think what is being done today. Maybe the crumbling infrastructure won’t matter since that type of our work and collaboration may occur in the virtual world.

I too enjoyed the video… Information for information sake is something like space: infinite and meaningless unless we can capture it to make efficient use of it. We have to harken back to what is driving this technological rampage we are on? Is it a thirst for knowledge and a liberation of the human soul once we find out why it is that we exist or is it something more biological in tune with that of money and power?

Note: We have more information now than we have ever had before in our existance but yet our problems have become ever the more dangerous and lethal (i.e.) Global Warming/Aides. Why? I believe we are in denial as to our reality (the human condition)… And if reality at present doesn’t fit, we simply create our own.

I liked the video. It poses the question of the chalkboard and teachers. Teachers need to incorporate more technology into the classroom. It is not to become another addon for teachers but a way of teaching. We have to learn to let go of the old style of teaching and use new methods with the students. If it becomes an addon for teachers in the classroom then it will not be used. Time is the biggest factor and when you add new ideas you need time to use them. Replace not addon.
